I have a KDL-46NX7710F TV and home cinema set including BDP-S470. Both are DLNA certified.
I was hoping to stream various movie files from my DLNA certified NAS but I am really disappointed in the by Sony supported formats.
Most mediaplayers support AVI, MKV, ISO, MPG, MPEG1-2-4, XVID, MOV, VOB, H.264 etc etc.
Sony's DLNA support is really limited.
Therefore my request is to support more formats. Especially MKV or ISO since those are used most.
Also I would like to see support for NTFS USB devices since most HD films are over 4GB and FAT32 cannot do the job.
Thanks very much!
I've also noticed that MKV support seems to have "broken" since the latest firmware upgrade. I create most of my home camcorder movies in MKV format, and wanted to show my new family off to friends. It worked ok before the upgrade, but suddenly I was not able to view the video any more.
I'm also having problems with the iPlayer viewer since the firmware upgrade. It stops all the time, and just simply restarting the video stream does not work. I have to reboot the machine, only for it to stop at a completely different point. I know this is not my ISP, as I can download files at high speeds, and streaming to my laptop via iPlayer works perfectly.
I am very dissapointed with my Sony S570 at this time. It was brilliant when I first bought it, but the firmware upgrades seem to be more downgrades ![]()
Something is needed in the Music interface to improve the scrolling through the folders/artists lists.
Once you've got 500 artists it takes a while to get to the end.
Could you use the colour buttons to provide top/end/page up/page down functions?
Alternative would be to provide a 0-9-A-Z listing layer to help reduce the length of the list.
Option to bookmarks folders would also work then you could 'jump' to 'Various Artists' at the bottom then pan up from there say.
Have to say these are refinements, on the whole my S480 has been so good I bought another.
Anyone happen to have a copy of either the spec sheet or the web page do you with the "DLNA Client (DMP/DMR): Yes". line it.
I've raised the lack of DMR support with support but they are trying to suggest they never said it supported DMR !!
I noticed that even amazon are showing the device supporting DMR so they must have pulled it off the old spec sheet.
