Just a quick update on NEW, yes new software, this is not an update it is brand new and was implimented for the new Reader, however it is ready for everyone including Mac 64-bit users, please visit link below;

BDP-S185 ghosting with HD output

Hi is the ghosting in purple, if so you will need to contact a service agent for an update, the HDMI systems have changed a lot since the launch of this set and a modification needs to be done by an engineer, no parts are required, but they need to change some settings in the service menu.

Hi if no code is listed please contact Customer Information on 0844 8466 555 they will require the WIRED Mac Address to check if your product is listed already, you can get this by running the wired network setup, no need to connect a cable though.

Hi davidratcliffe, the red button issue is resolved with the latest firmware and we hope will not happen again, as far as iPlayer is concerned, could you please raise this directly with the BT forums and their customer support, we have tested the issue and so far have not been able to reproduce your problem, however after looking at there forums and communicating with others, there is a lot of noise now about this service and others not working since customers have switched to Infinity, it does not appear to be a wide spread issue, just some connections, which will make it a little more difficult to advise, however if you check your Widgets on the TV they should be working ok, which will give peace of mind that the TV is not faulty, it just appears to be a routing issue from your IP to the iPlayer servers .

Cant Read the 100 Free Ebooks in Reader software

Hi Sony has just changed all the downloads, the zip files now contain ePub files, if you have not got a link on your My Products page under your PRS-T1, this should be active by the end of the week, if you have an older model listed they have been up dated.

Sorry we have not offered much, if any comment on this issue so far. To be honest we should have been more active on this, if only to let you know that we have been looking into it

We have been keeping an eye on this and many other forum threads however, taking notes and making sure all of the feedback you have provided is passed onto the design team in Tokyo.

At this time we are still waiting on a more definitive fix, however, while that is still being looked into, we will hopefully be able to provide a more viable 'workaround' for you by either the end of today or Monday at the very latest.

With this in mind, watch this space.

Hi, if one half of the screen is acting completely differently to the other, I would say it has a faulty/damaged screen, and would require service or replacing

Yes both are owned by Sony Corp, however each company are individual business groups, and have there own development and research, Gracenote may have made a change to the data, or even to there whole software process which may inadvertently affected the Giga jukes, however they would not check with all the products and manufactures/Software vendors to check for conflicts, they as we would, rely on the community to feed back issues, this may not be the best way to make changes and upgrade software to give a better user experience, but this has also been the way the industry deals with improvements, once we identify what changes are affecting the Giga juke range a fix at the source or on your product will be done, but this is not going to happen very quickly, it is a difficult process to find what modification or software improvement is the cause and then how to resolve one issue without causing any further problems.

All this being said, it is still being investigated.

Hi this thread is a couple of months old, did this work ok before you did iOS5? there are lots of web reports about issues after iOS5

I have tested with iOS5 and seems to be all ok, try to check you Apple product on anither device, seems to be too many complaints at this time to say its the XDR-DS12iP

This issue is still under investigation, we are not 100% sure what has happened and have contacted all 3rd parties to see what changes have been done to the external services the GigaJuke uses. Once we identify what has changed and what implications this will have long term we can advise on a solution, however this is not something Sony has no direct control over and is causing as much frustration for our technical team as it is for our customers, but I can assure you, every effort is being taken to identify the cause and the route to resolve it. We will update when we have answers, we don’t want to point fingers when we don’t know.

We can only confirm nothing has changed on your product, it is a service it uses that has changed, resetting the network connection is the only way to work around the issue, but of cause does not last long, we are sorry there is no good news at this time, we update the forum again when we have something new.

RDR-HXD970 not "saving" digital channels

Hi a couple of things to check

Firstly check to see if you have any channels on the recorder in the 800's

Then check you postcode with Digital UK, make sure you tick I am an installer, this will show the quality of signal and the transmitters involved http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/postcodechecker/main/index/dummy

In most cases of channel loss it is either poor or over powered signal, since the transmitters have been given more power, so users are finding that there products get too many channels and the will cancel some out, especially the BBC Mux

Bravia KDL-HX803

Hi and Welcome, the HX803 should work ok with Media Remote, although there are no real benifits for this TV, you may need to ask the TV to access a PC or something if it is not being seen by the App, sometimes routers will not have the IP active if its not being used.

As for the other network features, these were only on the NX model last year sorry.

Hi and thank you for your feedback, unfortunately it is not so straight forward to just move from one PC to another, you will need to download an ePub from your store and reauthorise the new PC, this should help, if not please let me know.

ADE should not be required but most UK retailers want you to have it for support.

Unfortunately Sony has to follow strict guidelines for the distribution of digital media, these are enforced by each country and publisher, you will find in most cases that a publisher in the USA will not be the same for the UK or even Europe, I understand the confusion for the end user, however this is something beyond Sony's control.

Most AV equipment like Sky, cable and some Media players will have a volume level control in there Menu, however they are not always the best way to control the difference in volume and in such cases the best alround fix is via an A/V amplifier.

There are 2 types of MP4 file, the main codec for Sony products is the MP4(AVC/H.264) as used on our camcorder range as follows;

1440 x 1080/30p 12Mbps

1280 x 720/30p 6Mbps

The interface and the files are not always the same from one product to the next, each platform has its own portal with the BBC, so a PC could work and a piece of AV equipment may not, please report amy issues you get on the BBC forum, they can best answer why the service is not available.

I am not sure what you have installed to your memory, but 2gb / 32 files would equal approx 64MB per book, maybe it would be best to look viaWindows explorer and see what you have installed, howevre yes you can add to the memory.

PMB issue since upgrade

Hi, when you say since upgrade, is this to PMB or Windows, it sounds like a security setting has failed, it may be best to create a new folder in shared users and then link the new folder to PMB, this will prevent any user access issues and you can recover files even if Windows fails

Sony BDP-S380 & BBC iPlayer

Hi all

This sort of issue is a result of one of the following;

1. Wifi - The router will run at the speed of the slowest connected device, ie a B adapter would drop all the wifi connections to the speed of the B service and not the Maximum speed say N, this will result in a poor data transfer, regardless of the line speed and the result would be for the system to revert to the main menu as the stream is of poor quality.

2. Wired - there are a number of factors that will result in a poor streaming speed for a wired connection, the most common and most difficult to resolve is a DNS or IP issue, some lines have been switched from ISP to ISP so many times they are just a mess, the line bounces from hub to hub and the signal just drops, can only advise you request an alternative DNS portal or have your ISP check what could be going wrong with your routing, this issue is more difficult because you may be the only person on that exchange with the problem, we had a similar issue a few months ago with Talk Talk customers and something was changed by the BBC and ISP which resolved the problem.

Sony is happy to supply equipment to any ISP to help them resolve these types of issues, however we are not able to resolve them directly as they a very uncommon and generally are a line specific problem, it would be best to raise this problem directly with the BBC and ISP forums.

For a little piece of mind, it is worth trying the player on an alternative router/connection, to see if it acts differently, in most cases the player works perfectly away from your location and will help identify the player is not faulty.
