I've got the same issue with my Buffalo Network hard Disk.

First look at this : http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=serviio_console_explained

I suggest:

The first time after install : Enable "automatic library update" and enable "arrow" for each folder.

Then when library is build, uncheck "arrow" on folders then save.

When you add new media on a folder, open console, check the arrow for this folder then Save. Library will be updated (check on status button), then uncheck the "arrow", save and close console.

When the NAS will be power-off, folders "unchecked" will be not scanned.

tcviper, there is a new serviio beta version with new profiles for Sony Bravia devices from 2009 to 2012 series.

Homestream will be probably be updated with this new management.

The only hope may come from Serviio/HomeStream and especially FFmpeg coder.

When it will implement the coding of subtitles files in the video, it will be good.

I'm not sure Sony can update firmwares to support srt files...

On my 2010 model, Media servers are at the end of the apps list.

But no problem. Ex: On top of the video section, press Up arrow on remote goes directly to the end of the app list : Homestream is here...

Un mode d'emploi en français !! heu..franchement il n'est pas nécessaire.

- On peut installer le logiciel en langue française, les différents onglets sont simples et clairs, et très intuitifs.

Pour cela il faut installer un serveur DLNA.

Une alternative gratuite à Windows Media Player ou PS3 Media server est SERVIIO.ORG.

Parfait avec mes équipements Sony.

Allumez le téléviseur. Tout en maintenant enfoncée la touche "flèche vers le haut" de la télécommande, appuyez sur la touche POWER du téléviseur. (Le téléviseur s’éteindra, puis se rallumera.) Relâchez la touche "flèche vers le haut".
AVERTISSEMENT : La réinitialisation effacera tous les paramètres que vous avez définis, y compris ceux de la configuration Contrôle parental.

DLNA MPEG2 Video Aspect Ratio problem

I use a DLNA server (serviio.org) that streams video to my Sony Bravia TV 2010 model (KDL-46EX501).

With some video format, for example "MPEG2 Video, yuv420p, 640x336, PAR 1:1, DAR 40:21", in WIDE mode, the resulting displayed aspect ratio is bad:

- TOP /BOTTOM black bars were added, and

- Some pixels were lost on left and right (not on screen displayed)
- The video is crushed

The Sony renderer may: "Enlarges the picture horizontally to fill the screen when the original source is 4:3. When the original source is 16:9 (High-definition source), select this option to display the 16:9 picture in its original size."

ZOOM mode could be a workarround but not a complete solution:

- The video is not crushed or stretch : OK
- No black bars : OK

- But some pixels were lost on left and right : BAD

This problem is also known at the PS3 Media Server forum, workarround is to re-encode then expand in DAR 16:9 the video.

So it seems that the WIDE mode feature is not fully mature!!
