I have sent messages to

STARTTHECAR and SPECIALIST-CONVERGENCE both I belive work for sony and monitor this forum.

I suggest you all do the same telling them politly what you believe to be a failing of SOny to support the end user of thier products.

Inundate them with messages until they get the picture - its easy just go to the messaging facility and type in thier name and the search facility wil find them.

Its time to get them in on the action and then hopefully they will contact those who fiddle with the Knobs and fix the problems that they created by shutting down a server in Japan in October 2011.

START NAGGING DAILY !!!!!!

Look for any participants who work for Sony and nag them all.

So what you are saying is that when you loose your wireless connection to the internet you are not going to reset it and reconnect which means that there will be one less fool using it.

If you do not attempt the fix and prove it is not working you do not have a leg to stand on.

All the people who had the issues do not seem to be complaining that theres are not working since the carried out the fix.

Have decided that you are my entertainment for the new year I look forward to reading your rubbish

Had it for 3 years and only now you are saying your unit is crap - what happened before this did it not work ?

or did you imagine that it did.

Be constructive this a is not a moaning site it is one were you are supposed to build up a picture and help those who monitor the issues to work with Sony and solve the problem.

Have you carried out the fix as per the Giga Juke Strand HERE ?

How else do you hope to solve the issues if we do not create a complaint or issue and then start establishing the true extent of the problem.

Perhaps Researching All The facts regarding history of gigajuke you will find that your equipment will work if you follow the correct strands.

I have now decided that my Nas S55 system is not able to connect to the internet wirelesssly correctly as per how it was marketed and sold to me - at present I have got it working via AOSS so that at least it can talk to my satalite unit.

BAD SHOW SONY !!!!!!!!

Not even the Specialist or Car have even looked at this issue and therefore how can the main Sony support even start thinking about resolving the failures

Since the beginning of OCTOBER 2011 a thread has been poted on this site with the heading

GIGAJUKE (Martin Smith) and consists of some 23 pages of peoples concerns and frustrations that the owners had with SONY support in resolving the fact that the product was not working correctly.

At the end of November 2011 Sony appeared to have solved the issue of the GIGAJUKE just hanging and needed to be reset to turn on.

However a number of those thread users raised concerns that their GIGAJUKEs whist connected or made a network connection it appeared that the unit reported that there was no internet connection.

So this Thread is for that problem alone

If you have a similar machine but the same problem start a new thread with the same title but with your type of GIGAJUKE in the Title

Dear All

Whilst it appears that this is a fix for the NAS - S55HDE GIGA JUKE Music Server and the following hardware which is provide as a package product code NAS - SC55PKE

NAS - C5E GIGA JUKE Wireless Player

WAP - NA1 Wireless Station

UWA - NA1 Adapter

Which should allow you to

Connect to the internet wirelessly using the UWA - NA1 Adapter

Prior to this issue with the unit needing to reboot every so often due to what was described as an old or corrupt file asking the unit do do something.

Since this situation was resolved I have tried every way possible to connect to the internet via the UWA - NA1 wireless adapter and even with my Modem/router situated next to it it cannot find it. or any other router but if my WAP - NA1 is connected to the router it does find the AOSS Wireless Station every time.

When I first aquired the package and following subsequent need to reconnect wirelssly (due to building works and furniture moves the unit was unplugged and stored) the Adapter when searching for a connection would find almost instantly a number of access points locally (my neighbours and others) as well as my own which whether adjacent to the unit or in another room in the house.

Since this Thread problem started and following the repair I have raised this point as well as others on the thread that we are unable to connect to the internet in the manner described in the manual and historically.

When I connect to the router via a Lan cable link the unit connects the the network but advises that not to the internet, others like myself believe that it was connected as it was accessing Gracenote to get up todate information on tracks and CDs being loaded.

When the NAS - C5E is linked via the WAP - NA1 (which is LAN wired to my router) and connected using the recommended AOSS connection I am able to listen to music form my NAS - S55HDE and other Sony products such as the notebook that I am currently typing on.

When I select the intenet radio function on the NAS - C5E I am offered to links one is Live 365 and ShoutCast

365 appears to function but Shoutcast just hanhs when you try to connecy to one of the recommended Genres.

I therefore suggest that the fix is not a full fix and intend starting again an opening a new thread with the title

GIGAJUKE NAS - S55HDE NO WIRELESS or WIRED CONNECTION TO INTERNET

I will refer to this Thread for a history of the GIGAJUKE Fiasco but my intention is that I highlight the fact that something is wrong with the internet facility and this thread has not solved it or even considered the fact that a number of us are pretty sure that there is no fix within this thread to solve this issue.

A fundamental part of the system is that the dongle connects wirelessly to your home internet modem/router

also when your C5E is talking to your system through the AOSS buffalo what sort of strength signal is shown on the screen

also is anyone else able to get any form of internet radio

Not sure when this occured, however when we were asked info about our systems I advised on 9th Nov that my software version was 1.01 - see page 12 of this thread

To all those who are asking how do I do this or that can I sugesst that you do the following.

Pretend you have just got it out of the box

Get your manuals out (if you have lost them go on line my Sony and down load them )

Follow the instructions for each stage as per the manuals

This is what I have done and all is working fine except for the fact that whilst I can only connect to the internet via hard wire link to my router and hard wire link to my Buffalo and AOSS from here to my NAS C5E

I have tested in Party Mode, x-DJ ( in all areas such as playlist, explore and recomendations such as evening, morning and afernoon) Mode, Stand alone (in all area such as playlist , explore and HD) mode and Internet radio mode and each time they have have played happily and I have crossed back and for between each mode

At present I have not been able to do this wirelessly using the UWA - NA1 dongle.

My 3 TVs, 2 Blu-ray players PLaystation3 , Laptop and Notebook (all Sony) are able to see the NAS S55HDE when I press the Home button and go to the music element on the cross bar in all case I have been able to play different tracks in different modes at the same time.

Whilst I am happy at present I am holding my breath as to whether the matter is closed, resolved or not.

Additional Note - Internet radio

Can only find Live 365 .com

Shoutcast just appears to hang and and thats that - still exists online but not on the NAS C5E - perhaps this is where the problems stem from - any one else tried ?

Thanks for this - how can I and others tell that an update has taken place ?

Also my system cannot still find my modem wirelessly whether it is in another room or right next 2 it so at present it only appears to work hard wired.

I shall keep you posted as to whether it locks up again - my first tests will be internet rdio and party mode - the main function I believe.

Dear all

I have been monitoring your banter for some time and as well I have been looking at the problem that we are having and agree that it is frustrating.

One little test that I have tried a couple of times which appears to work is as follows.

Since I have not been able to connect to the internet wirelessly or to my satalite units via AOSS I have linked via my Lan cable and have noted that the system does appear to contact gracenote if you load a new CD or even asked the unit to aquire updated new information about the CD.

Given that it would appear to go on line to do this I decided the next time it locked up that I would just disconnect the Lan cable and see what happen.

On 2 occassions this has happened once pulling the lan cable the system shut down and then would reboot having re connected the Lan cable

Can any one else see if this is a fluke or a general state of play when it locks up.

You never know !!!

I have always believed that the unit has been accessing gracenote and therefore is connected to the Internet!!!!

The proof is now established by others - I now suggest that it is Sony that is the problem and their Software is the issue - see my earlier thoughts.

Dear All

I totally agree with what you are saying, I have been complaining about the fact that my system like yours is not connecting to the Internet and I need clarification that Gracenotes was in fact loaded on the system.

Originally I assumed that by connecting the LAN cable from my unit to my modem and the Buffalo to the same modem that actually it was connected to the Internet - through interrogation I find that it is not actually doing so.

The system is now not locking up since I ran this last temporary fix - so have Sony actually blocked it from doing so ?

I do miss the fact that I am unable to connect to Internet radio and that I am unable to update brand new CDs with the correct information and I do recognise the fact that it does not do what it was sold to do.

However through experience at complaining to Sony I have found that the only way forward is to carry out all of their advice and should it not work then I have a case of making a claim from them, and in this case I will expect full recompense by say January 1st 2012 - that will have given them 12 working weeks at the minimum to have sorted this problem.

As an example of being patient and following every thing to the "T" and crossing the "I"s my previous notebook which cost me over £1300 mysteriously starting having hard drive failure and yet only 9 months old on the 1st time by the 3rd time I said enough is enough and as I have accepted and carried out all of your recommendations and advice and yet Sony has not solved the problem I would like a full refund or a brand new replacement.

After 2 weeks I recieved a £1800 3d laptop - the best there is from Sony at this moment.

Why because I followed their rules and proved that there was a problem that they could not solve and therefore they had to settle.

When you make a claim against your insurance there are 3 stages

what happened before the event

what was the event

and what did you do to minimise the insurers liability following the event.

With out being able to provide facts and evidence for all three elements you will not get a satisfactory settlement.

Do not ignore their request to attempt to run these temporary fixes or even state in writing that that is your intention - by doing so you have broken your contract with them.

I suggest you all write that you are given them an ultimatum of a fully working product by January 1st 2012 or you will expect a full refund - not a buy back valuation as the product does not work as sold and therefore is not fit for its purpose.

I have on posting this item also have removed my self from being informed of any responses and will monitor the thread by logging on.

I can assure that if I had spent the equivilant of 48 hrs doing what only takes me 3 minutes I would be concerned - it seems to me you have bigger issues with your kit if it is constantly locking up.

I have a house full of Sony and rest assured I have threatened to stop buying thier products, but I am not going out to replace an item at my cost due to thier issues.

I can assure you as in my last thread I to am very frustrated by the issue as I am like you every few days having to reboot.

My thouhgts on this have been made clear in the past - something is accessing the unit via the internet and resetting it - I do not use internet radio so it cannot be that.

My system says it is not connected to the internet and yet it can talk to Gracenote.

As I said keep badgering them as you are doing until we get the proper fix and a full explanation

I have looked on all of the threads and I have noted that very few have a green flag against them so perhaps we are talking to the wring people.

I have been using this new fix for over 24 hrs now and I have turned the unit on and off in excess of 24 times to see if it was going to lock up but so far it has not.

My system is wired to my Modem - not wirelessly with the dongle ( my unit cannot find it however close it is but can find my neighbours).

When I check the Wired Lan Settings it advise me that it is

Connected to the Home Network

No Connection to Internet

Yet when playing a track and I select options and then Select Obtain Title Information, Album or Track it can find a number of the same track titles but on different CDs such as Greatest Hits or the Orginal CD release.

Can some one tell me if it is going on the internet to do this check or is all the info on the units hard drive?

On another point Lee has explained that this is a temporary fix and has not described it as anything else so why are people getting irate?

We are all frustrated but as I have written in the past we just need to keep badgering until a permanant fix is provided.

I suggest that you can only criticise the fix - if you try it and then finds it fails.

The more information given the better.

I have also noted that not all thread readers have posted the information Lee requested please help him to help yourself and others.

Further to your posting regarding the enviroment I am operating using please see below.

Gigajuke NAS - S55HDE

Wire connected Via

Huawei Echolife HG532 ADSL+ Router (and connecting to the internet - tested by calling up gracenote to obtain the latest info following installing a new CD)

Gigajuke NAS - SC55PKE

Wireless connected Via

Buffalo AOSS wireless station using AOSS - (I have not tried the S-IWS connection)

Edit extra info added - This in turn is wired to Huawei Router - as per wired internet connection instructions in manual

Edit Extra info added 2 - Have just noticed that Buffolo AOSS light is flashing constantly - suggests that a AOSS connection is being made but I have checked and the NAS - SC55PKE is connected and playing music sourced from my NAS- S55HDE (it also can find my SONY Notebook when I interogate it)

SInce yesterdays re boot and reapplying the fix (Tuesday 8th November 2011) the system has operated in principle as per the manual.

All of my music is installed intially via CD (600 albums) and then following a transfer to a 64GB stick and reformatting the hard drive in September 2011 following what I thought was a local issue reloaded via that stick.

(One other point of interest the first time it failed I found that it had lost its wireless link to the Huawei Router and since then it has not been able to find/talk to it wirelessly even though they are adjacent to each other and yet it can find my neighbours !)

Got up this morning to find the system had locked again - it is something to do with the shutting down process as it works before you turn it off and yet it seems to get stuck in shutting off and does not complete the sequence.

It would appear that the NAS S55HDE is a major in this matter

Have reset it so at least I can listen to my music.

It would be good to have an update from Sony ay this point with a clear explanation and proof that they are taking this seriously.

I have done a complete reset as per the PDF instructions and ensured all settings are as when unit is delivered, Auto Analysis on and quick start feature.

In addition I have it wired to my modem and conecting by AOSS to my other unit and they are talking, also have loaded a CD on sytem and went on line to check CD inforamtion it give me a number of variations which means it is talking to Gracenote

I do not unplug my unit at any time, during all of this situation I have not unplugged the unit I have only used the reset facility.

A couple of quick questions for Sony and the thread users

What version of Software is on your Unit - mine is 1.01.00 System Micro 1.00A

The PDF download instruction screen shots were different to mine and I had to use a bit of CS to find where the instructions related to.

Are there different versions as others thread users also did not have the same as the screen shots given.

As you will be aware all those linked to this thread have no discovered that the fix was only temporary, sytems and units have been locking up again after approximatly 24 hrs - this is a shame as SPEC worked really hard on Friday to try and help allviate the issue until Sony Japan came to the resuce.

One further attempt by myself as givemn me some hope.

I have left all of the settings as per your PDF

Auto Clock set to Off

Wireless Lan Connected

In addition I have the following Settings in Place

The System is connecting via AOSS wirelessly - Buffalo unit connected to my Modem/Router

The NAS - C5E is connected AOSS wirelessy

The Automatic Analysis is set to off.

The Power off Mode is set to Staandard.

Since yesterday afternoon when I put these settings in place I have not had to do a rest/reboot to get the unit to fire up and I am able to use the NAS - C5E.

Before Sending this email/posting I have turned the unit on and off 3 times and it has every time returned to the last track played - I just have press enter or the play button on the remote.

I hope this information is useful in solving the problem.

I am also considering quitting as well.

I have now de wired the link to modem, reconnected my dongle and got my systems talking through AOSS.

I also reveresd the settings as per the orinal PDF Temp Fix instructions.

Carried out a reset then carried out the instructions as per the Temp Fix istrction but instead of connecting to the inernet I have connected through the AOSS as above.

Clearly the HARD WORK by SPEC though temporary needs a full assault by Sony on Monday.

I bought my system through AMAZON and on a credit card so I intend talking to the credit card company inrespect of is it covered as a defective sale, also realised that I have not done a review of the product so have decided that now is the time to do so and perhaps all other unhappy Bunnies do so as well via the shop or site you purchased and log on to sites similar to Amazon were you can do a review whether you bought it thrpugh them or not. - structurally, point out the software issues, the locking up, and any other issues you have experienced - be factual and Honest saying somethis C*** does not put people off but stating exacly whats wrong with them will affect sales and sales of other Sony products, rather then doing resets go online and post your facts to potentail buyers.
