Hi,

I think this depends on the background to the issue.

Is the pink screen on TV channels or on picture from external equipment (Sky, Virgin, etc).

If from external equipment, how is this connected (Scart or HDMI connector).

If you ring Sony they may be able to take you through other possibilities.

Hello,

This symbol sounds to me like a "Mute" symbol.

This is usually found on the remote control as a speaker with a cross through it.

Turning the volume up or or pressing the "Mute" button again should solve this problem.

Sorry not sure which model you have or if you have other equipment attached (DVD player, etc).

Just checked on my set, EX7 series and looks like not possible to do what you require.

The problem lies in the fact that when models change the core software (Including designers) also change.

In this case the only photo's that can be played are the preloaded ones when listening to radio.

I think there is no possibility to use your own photograph when you have the radio on, although I may be mistaken.

If you have PC rather than a Mac, then the following information may help you in downloading the I-Manual. I had similar problem, until I realised that the file had to be unzipped and placed on your PC before you could view the htm files.

It's not as good as a paper manual, but you should be able to read the contents and print off if required.

I checked last night on my KDL-40EX713, and the folowing is how Iset it up.

Maybe a bit easier to understand than I-Manual

Setting up Favourites in Bravia – KDL-40EX713

Setting Favourites on guide

1.1. Press guide on remote

1.2. Press options (on remote)

1.3. Go to guide favourite set up

1.4. There are 4 lists available

1.5. Press list 1

1.6. Press enter button on remote to select the list of favourites you require in guide

1.7. Press return

1.8. Press options (again)

1.9. Select category

1.10. Set guide favourites 1

1.11. The guide will now only show selected channels

1.12. To delete go back to category and select all

Setting Favourites on screen

2.1. Press home on remote (menu appears)

2.2. Go to TV channels

2.3. Move to the TV channel you want to select as favourite

2.4. Press options on remote

2.5. Menu appears (add to favourites) – Press enter

2.6. Select another channel until all channels are stored as favourites

2.7. Press return to get out of menu

2.8. Press “Heart” key on remote

2.9. Favourites bar appears at bottom of screen

2.10. Move to “TV programmes” – these are your favourites which were set in menu.

Although the features page is currently incorrect, best to look at the technical specification page.

1. KDL-40EX720 - Wireless Ready (Need to buy a seperate Wireless Dongle UWA-BR100

It may be worth contacting the supplier (Belkin) customer support as they may have already heard of some issue and have a fix they can help you with.

Sorry I dont know the number or cost of call, but it may be cheaper than buying a new router.

If you do contact and there is a solution, it would be good to include here for other customers who may have an issue.

IP address looks OK, 1 digit different is OK.

Just 1 additional question which make/type of router are you using and who is the ISP (Internet service provider).

Although not sure which country you are in, this sounds like at first switch on the wrong setting was used (Country).

Please try autostartup again and ensure correct country is selected.

1. Press "Home" or "Menu button on remote

2. Goto Settings Menu

3. Go to system settings

4. Auto Start Up

5. If it asks Home or Shop/Retail mode (Enter Home)

6. Language

7. Country

Once this is selected it will ask if you want to start aut tuning, this hopefully will solve the problem.

Hello,

The LED flashing 5 times is usually an error code noted by the TV software.

Depending on the model it can be different. If the set never switches on and only shows this error code, then best way is to go to a Sony Authorised Service Centre to get it checked out.

Is this box appearing on all channels or only on AV channels (External equipment)?

How long have you had the set and wen did it start occuring?

Have you added any external equipment (DVD, VCR, etc) recently.

Hello Bodrake,

This is one of 2 things, you are either measuring when the TV is in active stand by or the most likely issue is measurement method.

Some instruments measure V*I and automatically uses this measurement as the power consumption. The problem is in standby the Voltage and current are out of phase and therefore a power factor has to be applied.

There are meters available that do take the power factor into account.

As you have downloaded latest software, it should be possible I believe to turn it off.

Maybe the name "Key tone" is confusing - but check in the audio menu if it is available.

Although I understand your predicament, I think the problem is similar as above.

If you plug in you I-Pod, the TV set must be switched to External (AV Channel) for music to be heard (I believe).

On this AV channel, I assume the set is checking for Picture information and if the set is not showing video for 10~20 minutes the TV software believes that there is no signal and shuts off - standby.

I don't know if current models react the same way, or if technology has moved on since playing music files on TV has become more popular.

There could be a number of issues that could cause this, however it is worth checking simple things first.

1. Are you using an internal (Set Top) aerial or a external (Roof top) aerial?

2. Is it only he BBC channels that are a problem or other channels are also not good?

Although not always possible, it may be worth checking another digital TV using current aerial to see if this works.

If the Aerial is O.K. then mybe a visit to the service center is necessary.

OK, understood - I don't believe this model has "Idle TV standby" - sorry.

If the TV is auto shutting off in this case, it is usually because it see's no signal I believe.

Do you have an aerial connected directly to TV or are you using external set top box?

If aerial is connected, then maybe one for the service centre to check out - Is there a particular time when it switches off or is it random?

It depends on which model you have, but usually you can find in the eco settings (In TV menu).

There is possibly an item "Idle TV standby" and can be set to off, 1Hr, 2Hr, 3Hr.

Set to Off and should solve the problem.
