Gigajuke connection to CPF-IX001

Hi,

Does anyone know if and how, you can connect the Sony Gigajuke NAS-S55HDE to a Sony CPF-IX001, using a wireless connection? (Just like a NAS-C5E does) . I`m sure i`ve seen somewhere that you can use the Sony CPF-IX001 as a client to the Gigajuke, rather than using a PC.

I`ve got a NAS-C5E unit already connected to a Gigajuke on a WEP network and thought it would be just a case of searching for a network when turning on the Sony CPF-IX001, but obviously not. After finding no information anywhere on how to connect these two units, any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

GIGAJUKE NAS - S55HDE NO WIRELESS OR WIRED CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET

Hi everyone,

I last posted when the Gigajuke refused to work late last year but since the fix my unit and client unit have worked fine. Like people have posted though, my set also shows the message that it is CONNECTED TO HOME NETWORK , NOT CONNECTED TO INTERNET but it must be I`m receiving internet radio, the time set itself through the internet and the unit obtains more track/album info when "search online" is selected, if it wasn`t connected to internet, surely the unit would state then that it is not connected.

This has nothing to do with the fix last year as my set has always shown this message, and tried my patience when I first set the unit up, as I kept trying and trying.

Could be that Sony had plans for more software updates and support for the Gigajuke when first released but didn`t sell as many sets as predicted (probably due to price), therefor giving up on the idea.

I think the Gigajuke main unit using WEP internet secruity, but the client being able to use WEP/WPA is a bit poor, I recently acquired a Virgin superhub and thats only supports WPA. Luckily though the superhub can have two guest networks, so setting up another guest WEP network was the only option. This could be the problem people are having when switching to BT superhub or other modem/routers.

I still think the Gigajuke is a good bit of kit, not seeing the screen from the sofa was annoying but the option of connecting the Gigajuke to the TV sorted that out.

Hopefully someone may be able to explain the NOT CONNECTED issue soon ???

Giga Juke

I BOUGHT THIS SYSTEM (NAS S55HDE) SECOND HAND ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO, HARDLY USED BY PREVIOUS OWNER, EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL LAST WEEKEND IT STARTED SUFFERING THE SAME PROBLEM AS YOU`VE DESCRIBED.

RESET IT A FEW OF TIMES AND IT WORKED ALRIGHT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT IT IS NOW DOING IT CONSTANTLY. I`VE TRIED EVERYTHING, BUT FORMATTING THE HARD DRIVE, I DON`T THINK THAT WILL HELP BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO BE LINKED TO THE CD OPERATION AS EVERTHING ELSE STILL WORKS FINE.

ITS ALLOWED ME TO BACK UP ALL DATA TO USB DRIVE, IM JUST WORRIED WHETHER IT WILL ALLOW ME TO RESTORE THE DATA BACK ONTO IT AFTER FORMATTING IT.

IT COULD BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE INTERNET, SEEING AS ITS HAPPENED TO A FEW OF US AT THE SAME TIME.

HOPE SOMEONE CAN ANSWER THIS SOON.

It must be something to do with the internet connection.

Could be coincidence but I took the usb wireless dongle out and everythings been fine for a few days, not great if it is the solution, as it makes the other wireless sets useless, what with the 4 or 5 internet radio stations it can get.

Message was edited by: DEANO16

Message was edited by: DEANO16
